In the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-six, Missionary Carolee Simmons opened her home for services each Sunday morning.  The membership consisted of two missionaries and their children.  Because the membership continued to grow, the services moved to the Lincolnville Town Hall.  Services were held each Tuesday and Sunday.  The officers at that time consisted of Missionary Felder and Missionary Simmons being the deacon, usher, Sunday School teacher, and all other duties.

Shortly after moving to the Lincolnville Town Hall, Elder Paul Taylor, the District Superintendent, served as pastor for one year.

During the 1968 Holy convocation, Elder Jesse Jennings, Jr. was appointed the pastor of Friendship.  He served in this capacity for 12 years.  The first deacon of Friendship was the Late Gamerlear Williams.  The membership then consisted of the Felders, Simmons, Simpsons, and Williams.  during that time, .66 acres of land was purchased on the corner of Front and Hamilton streets.  The foundation was laid and the block structure of the Friendship Church of God in Christ was erected.

In 1979, Elder Johnie J. Johnson was appointed as interim pastor.  Elder J. Johnson served for one year.  while serving as pastor of Friendship, the roof was placed on the building.

In November, 1980, elder Edward L. Johnson, along with the members of Friendship moved from the Lincolnville Town Hall to the kitchen area of the church.  In 1981, Elder Johnson was appointed as the pastor of Friendship Church of God in Christ.  Through prayer, fasting, rallies, and other fund raises, the members of Friendship moved into the new sanctuary in October of 1984.

As a young pastor of Friendship, and because elder Johnson was always inspired from the Lord, the Friendship Church of God in Christ became known as the Friendship Inspirational Church of God in Christ.  Through continued fasting and prayer and under the leadership of Pastor Edward L. Johnson, the sanctuary was completed and Friendship has continued to grow in every way.

Along with Pastor Johnson and the members at Friendship, we have been blessed with central heating and air, are able to park our cars on a paved lot, have comfortable seating and carpet.  The members of Friendship have been blessed to purchase and additional acre of land where we have built our new Family Life Center.
